In a significant operation, the State Monitoring Cell (SMC) has seized a large quantity of MD drugs in Sabarkantha district, Gujarat. The raid took place in the Madni Society of the Sanjarnagar area, where officials discovered 195.280 grams of MD drugs in a house on May 19. The operation led to the arrest of two suspects involved in the sale and purchase of the drugs.
The arrested individuals are Khursheedkhan Saddatkhan Pathan from Savgadh, Himatnagar, and Nomanmiya Shakeermiya Pathan from Kasbavad, Talod. The SMC has confiscated items worth ₹19.52 lakh, which includes mobile phones and cash. Following their arrest, the suspects were presented in the Himatnagar Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate’s Court, where the police requested a 14-day remand for further investigation. The court has granted an 11-day remand until May 30.
A key suspect, Irfankhan Nisar Khan Pathan, remains at large. He is believed to have brought the MD drugs from Madhya Pradesh to sell to Khursheedkhan. The SMC has filed charges against the arrested suspects under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Authorities are now intensifying their investigation into the MD drug supply chain and network in the region.
Sabarkantha district, located in the northeastern part of Gujarat, has been facing challenges related to drug trafficking.
