In Himatnagar, the rural police arrested a man with a large quantity of ganja. The arrest happened near the Kifayat Nagar bus stand during a police checkpoint. The accused was driving a scooter with the registration number GJ.09.DP.3826. He was identified as 22-year-old Jainul Abidin Abdulhamid Luhar from Surpur village in the Idar taluka. The police found 381.500 grams of ganja in the trunk of his scooter. The value of the seized ganja is approximately ₹3,815. In addition to the ganja, the police seized two laptop hard drives, the scooter, and a mobile phone, bringing the total value of the confiscated items to ₹81,815. The police have filed a case against the accused under the NDPS Act, which deals with drug-related offences.
The accused was presented in the Himatnagar court, which granted a three-day remand until May 25. The police are currently investigating the source of the ganja, as well as the supplier and distribution network. It is noteworthy that on May 19, the Himatnagar rural police seized MD drugs worth ₹19.52 lakh in a separate case. In this incident, two other suspects were arrested, while one remains at large. The court has granted the arrested suspects an 11-day remand for further investigation.
