In a significant operation, police in the Mavsari area have seized foreign liquor worth over ₹23 lakhs in just one month. This operation is part of a larger effort to maintain security along the border areas of Gujarat. Despite the ongoing operations, illegal activities continue to thrive in these regions. On May 17, a team from the Palanpur Parole Squad confiscated more than ₹10 lakhs worth of alcohol from the Mavsari police jurisdiction. The local police seemed unaware of the ongoing illegal activities, raising concerns about their effectiveness.
Recently, the B.K. L.C.B. team conducted a patrol in the Mavsari and Suigam areas. Based on credible information, they set up a blockade and captured more than ₹12 lakhs worth of foreign liquor along with the vehicle used for transport. This arrest highlights the ongoing issue of illegal liquor transport in the region.
The Mavsari police were reportedly caught off guard, as the L.C.B. team had to wake them up to inform them of the situation. The driver of the vehicle was arrested, and a case has been registered against him. This is not the first instance of such a seizure. Just weeks earlier, the L.C.B. team had confiscated ₹1 lakh worth of foreign liquor from another area of the same police station. The head constable of that area faced suspension for a year due to negligence.
The continued success of these operations raises questions about the accountability of the Mavsari police. In just fifteen days, the combined efforts of the Parole Squad and the L.C.B. have led to seizures worth ₹23 lakhs. This has sparked discussions among the public about the effectiveness of the local police and their responsibilities. The police department’s leadership is under scrutiny as the community demands better action against illegal activities in the area.
The border regions in Gujarat have been notorious for smuggling and illegal activities, including the transport of foreign liquor. The situation has led to calls for more robust measures from law enforcement agencies. The police have acknowledged the challenges they face in controlling these activities but are committed to intensifying their efforts.
As the situation develops, the Mavsari police station will need to take decisive action against the ongoing issues of negligence and illegal transport. Community members are hopeful for a more proactive approach from their local law enforcement. Increased vigilance and collaboration with other teams are essential to curb the illegal liquor trade effectively.
Public awareness campaigns and stricter penalties for those involved in smuggling can also aid in addressing this problem. For now, the police will continue their operations, aiming to restore safety and order in the Mavsari area. The recent seizures are a step in the right direction, but sustained efforts will be necessary to combat the ongoing challenges of illegal liquor transport along the border.
