In a surprising turn of events, a young woman from Jagudan village in Mehsana has been arrested for stealing gold bangles worth ₹2.4 lakh. The incident dates back four months when two gold bangles, weighing four tolas, were reported stolen from the bedroom of Pravinchandra Vrajlal Barot’s house. The theft was reported to the Mehsana Taluka police station on February 7, 2025.
According to police reports, the investigation was led by Police Inspector D.G. Badwani, with assistance from PSI P.S. Joshi and the surveillance team. Using technical analysis and human sources, they identified the suspect as Nishaben Sanjay Thakor, a resident of Thakorwas in the same village.
During the investigation, police conducted a layered voice analysis test at the Gandhinagar Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). The results indicated that Thakor was indeed involved in the theft. When questioned, she initially denied the allegations but eventually confessed after intense interrogation.
Thakor admitted that she had stolen the gold bangles from the dressing table in the victim’s bedroom. The police managed to recover the stolen jewellery, which was valued at ₹2.35 lakh. This case highlights the successful collaboration between local law enforcement and forensic experts in solving crimes effectively.
Jagudan village is located in the northern part of Mehsana district in Gujarat, India. The primary occupations of its residents include farming, agricultural labor, and livestock rearing. The village is known for cultivating crops such as wheat, millet, tobacco, potatoes, and various vegetables, along with lemon orchards. It is equipped with essential facilities including primary schools, a secondary school, a panchayat office, an anganwadi, a dairy, a bank, and an electricity center, catering to the needs of the local population.
