A new high-tech library has been opened in Patan for the daughters of the Thakor community. This library was inaugurated on Sunday in the presence of community leaders, saints, and donors. It allows up to 47 girls to read at the same time, equipped with modern facilities. To enter the library, each girl must use a fingerprint system. This system also sends a mobile message to their parents, notifying them when their daughter enters or exits the library.
The library operates from 8 AM to 6 PM. The Sant Sadarām Kanya Library was built with contributions from the Gujarat Kshatriya Thakor community and local donors. During the opening ceremony, member of parliament, Ganiben Thakor, stressed the need for the community to move away from superstitions and social evils. She urged community leaders to invest in educational facilities rather than temples. Ganiben encouraged the girls to use the library for free to achieve success and bring honour to their families and community.
Gujarati film star Vikram Thakor also attended the event and praised the library’s establishment. He called for community members to support education with their time, energy, and resources. A student named Hetal Thakor shared her excitement about the library, saying there was previously no study arrangement for girls in the community. Now, with this modern library, they can prepare for exams and make their community proud.
Other political and community leaders offered their congratulations during the ceremony. They also accepted the responsibility of managing the library, ensuring it meets the needs of the community’s daughters. The library represents a significant step towards empowering young women and promoting education within the Thakor community. It is a hopeful initiative that aims to change lives and encourage learning for future generations.
