In recent days, heavy rains in several states of India have led to tragic loss of life and severe damage to property. In the northeastern region, at least 19 people have died due to the extreme weather. Morari Bapu, a prominent spiritual leader, has expressed his condolences for those who lost their lives in Assam, Mizoram, and Tripura. He has also pledged financial assistance to the affected families. A total of ₹2,51,000 has been donated to various Chief Minister Relief Funds across these states. Families of two children who drowned in a pond in Savarkundla’s Jesar Road area received ₹30,000 in support. Similarly, families of two other children who drowned near Shankeshwar in Patan were provided with ₹30,000 as well. Morari Bapu has expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families and has prayed for the souls of the deceased. This charitable initiative is being carried out by the Manohar Family of Nalanda, Bihar, as part of their service to the community.
The northeastern region has also seen impressive progress in managing the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. According to recent reports, five out of eight states in the region are currently free from COVID-19 cases. The Minister of State for Development of Northeast Region (DoNER), Dr. Jitendra Singh, held a video conference to review the situation and expressed satisfaction with the management of health services in the area. He noted that states like Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, and Tripura are now completely free of COVID-19. Assam, Meghalaya, and Mizoram have reported very few positive cases in recent days, showing promise of recovery.
Dr. Singh congratulated the state governments for their effective coordination in achieving these results. He also discussed health-related proposals from various northeastern states aimed at improving healthcare and epidemic management. Financial resources have been allocated to these states to support their COVID-related activities, further showcasing the government’s commitment to public health.
In addition to health concerns, the northeastern region is gearing up for investment opportunities. An event called the North East Trade and Investment Road Show is scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad on January 17, 2025. This event aims to highlight the vast investment potential in the northeastern states for the dynamic business community in Gujarat. The Minister of State for DoNER, Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, will be present at the event, along with representatives from various government organizations.
The Road Show will showcase investment opportunities in fields such as infrastructure, agriculture, IT, textiles, tourism, and healthcare, among others. It will also provide a platform for Business-to-Government (B2G) meetings, allowing investors to connect directly with state representatives and explore regional opportunities. This is the seventh major Road Show in a series of activities leading up to the North East Investors Summit, which aims to attract investment and stimulate economic growth in the region.
Overall, the response to the recent heavy rains and the ongoing pandemic illustrates the resilience and spirit of the northeastern states. With support from spiritual leaders and government initiatives, the region is working towards recovery and development. Morari Bapu’s contributions reflect the community’s solidarity in times of crisis, while the investment road show opens new avenues for progress and prosperity in the northeastern states.
