On the first day of this operation, the corporation’s team successfully removed various structures, including toilets and other unauthorized constructions.
On Friday, the work continued with machinery like JCBs used to dismantle the encroachments. During these operations, some illegal activities were also discovered. Authorities found materials used for making illicit alcohol hidden underground. As a result, police have begun taking legal action against those involved in these activities.
The corporation has announced plans to continue clearing other encroachments in different areas of Nadiad in the coming days. This has caused concern among encroachers, leading to a sense of panic as they fear losing their structures.
Meanwhile, the Nadiad municipality is also addressing safety concerns related to buildings in the city. A recent stability report indicated that several shops in the Sardar Bhavan complex are at risk of collapse. The report, conducted by Birla Vishwavidyalaya, showed that the structures have a negative stability rating. As a result, the municipality has issued notices to the shop tenants, asking them to vacate their premises within 15 days.
The tenants are understandably worried as they face the possibility of losing their businesses. The municipality has warned that if the shops are not vacated, they will take possession of the properties.
