National Tuberculosis Eradication Programme Held in Sabarkantha

A national tuberculosis (TB) eradication programme took place on Thursday at the Himatnagar Circuit House in Sabarkantha district. The event was chaired by Bhartiben Patel, the president of the district panchayat, and attended by the District Development Officer, Harshad Vora. During the programme, Bhartiben Patel shared important information about TB, describing it as a contagious disease that spreads through the air. She noted that failing to receive timely treatment increases the risk of death from the disease.

The government is helping patients through the Ni-Kshay Poshan Yojana, which provides financial support for their nutrition. Harshad Vora also informed citizens about various government schemes aimed at improving their welfare. He warned about the dangers of consuming too much junk food and emphasised the importance of natural farming.

During the programme, the leaders honoured the sarpanches and talatis of 35 villages that have achieved TB-free status by presenting them with certificates. Also present were Bhumikaben Patel, the president of the Himatnagar Taluka Panchayat, Dr. Falguniben, the district TB officer, and various health centre staff members.

The message of the event was clear: creating a TB-free India starts at home. Ansuya Ben Gameti, the chairperson of the health committee, urged the attendees to inform their communities about the disease. She stressed the importance of ensuring that individuals showing TB symptoms receive appropriate treatment.

Harshad Vora reiterated that the government has launched numerous schemes to enhance the development and welfare of citizens. He highlighted the risks posed to public health by excessive junk food consumption, which is affecting people’s health, including children. To tackle this, he insisted on the need for promoting natural farming practices.

The event was a significant step in raising awareness about tuberculosis and the government’s efforts to eradicate it. The officials encouraged everyone to play their part in the fight against TB. By working together, they believe it is possible to create a healthier future for all citizens.

The programme not only honoured the villages that have successfully eliminated TB but also aimed to educate the public on the importance of health and wellness. The officials expressed hope that with continuous efforts, Sabarkantha could serve as a model for other districts in Gujarat in the fight against tuberculosis.
