New Maya Hotel Shut Down After Contaminated Food Incident in Tarapur

In a shocking incident, the New Maya Hotel near Isravad village on the Tarapur-Sikas Lane road faced immediate action after a dead lizard was found in a meal ordered by an ST bus driver. The driver became alarmed upon discovering the dead lizard in his food, prompting swift action from the authorities. The driver was rushed to the hospital for medical attention, and the ST department took quick measures against the hotel. The hotel’s license was revoked without delay.

The Tarapur municipality also took firm action against the hotel. A joint inspection was conducted by the Chief Officer of the Tarapur municipality, the Food Department, and the Mamlatdar’s office. During the inspection, two domestic gas cylinders were found being used illegally at the hotel and were seized by the authorities.

Additionally, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit discovered three child labourers working at the New Maya Hotel. This led to further legal actions against the hotel owners under the Child Labour Act. The investigation revealed serious violations that could endanger public health and safety.

The ST department’s officials confirmed that the incident occurred around 1 AM on June 30 when the Upleta-Kavant bus made a stop at the highway halt. The driver had sat down to eat when he noticed the lizard in his dish. The severity of the situation prompted an immediate investigation, and the findings confirmed the driver’s claims. As a result, the highway license for New Maya Hotel was revoked by C.D. Mahajan, the divisional director of the Nadiad department.

This incident has raised concerns about food safety standards in local eateries. Consumers expect high hygiene standards, especially in establishments serving food to the public. The Tarapur municipality’s response highlights the importance of regular inspections to ensure compliance with health regulations.
