New Memorial Park to Honour Operation Sindoor in Kutch

The Indian Army is honouring the heroes of Operation Sindoor with a new memorial park in Kutch, Gujarat. This park, named ‘Sindoor Van’, will be located near the India-Pakistan border. It will feature around 12,000 plants, including 551 Sindoor trees. The park will serve as a tribute to those who lost their lives during the operation, particularly the victims of a terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, where three residents from Gujarat were among the 26 killed.

The Gujarat government has committed to building this memorial park, which is expected to be completed in about 18 months. The park will cover eight hectares of land along the Bhuj-Mandvi road and will showcase the unity displayed by various security forces during Operation Sindoor, including the Army, Air Force, and BSF.

The initiative was confirmed by Cabinet Minister Mulubhai Bera, who stated that the park would include a section dedicated to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Gujarat after the operation. During this visit, women from Madhapar presented the PM with a Sindoor tree as a symbol of their gratitude for the repair of the Bhuj airbase runway in just 72 hours during the 1971 war.

Sindoor Van will not only pay homage to the operation but will also promote biodiversity in the region. The park will feature medicinal plants and high-density trees, with a plan to plant 10,000 trees per hectare. This will make it one of the densest forests in Bhuj, offering a green space for both locals and visitors.

The design of the park will include wall murals depicting the equipment and aircraft used during Operation Sindoor. This is aimed at educating visitors about the history and significance of the operation, making it an educational experience as well.

In conclusion, Sindoor Van will be a place of remembrance and respect for the sacrifices made during Operation Sindoor. As it takes shape over the next year and a half, it will stand as a testament to the bravery of those who served and the unity of the nation in the face of adversity.
