A new park named ‘Sindoor Van’ will be built in Kutch, Gujarat, to honour the Indian military operation known as Operation Sindoor. This initiative comes after the successful military actions against terrorists across the border in Pakistan. The operation resulted in the destruction of several terrorist hideouts and military airbases in Pakistan.
Operation Sindoor was launched following a terrorist attack in the region, and it has since become a significant part of India’s military history. The park will cover approximately eight hectares near the village of Mirzapur, close to the city of Bhuj. This location is historically significant as Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting here after the operation on May 26.
The Kutch district, located near the India-Pakistan border, has been chosen for this park due to its strategic importance. The Chief Conservator of Forests for the Kutch region, Sandeep Kumar, shared that ‘Sindoor Van’ will include various sections dedicated to the Indian Armed Forces, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, and the Border Security Force (BSF).
The park will not only serve as a memorial but also reflect the unity shown by different military branches during Operation Sindoor. The design will include high-density planting of trees, including indigenous species that can thrive in the local environment. The park aims to enhance the green cover of the area while commemorating the bravery of the forces involved in the operation.
Local officials have reported that the initial groundwork for the park has already begun. They aim to complete the project within two years. The park will feature a variety of flora, including medicinal plants and trees, to create a lush environment for visitors. Approximately 10,000 trees are planned to be planted per hectare, making it one of the largest green spaces in the Bhuj area.
Visitors to the park will also have the opportunity to see dioramas of the combat equipment and aircraft used during Operation Sindoor. This educational aspect is intended to inform the public about the military’s efforts and sacrifices during the operation. As the park develops, it will serve as a space for reflection and remembrance of the lives impacted by the events that unfolded during Operation Sindoor.
Creating a park in honour of this operation is a symbolic gesture that showcases the pride and respect the nation holds for its armed forces.
