New Road in Kapadvanj Faces Deterioration Amid Traffic Chaos

In Kapadvanj, the new road connecting Atarsuba to Sarkhej has fallen into disrepair. Large potholes have formed, making travel dangerous for drivers. The road, once a vital link for the local community, is now in a very poor condition. Despite repeated complaints over the years, authorities have failed to repair the potholes. This has made the road a risky choice for many drivers, including those trying to avoid tolls. Heavy traffic often uses this route, increasing the wear and tear on the road.

Recently, a tractor carrying logs overturned on this bumpy road. Fortunately, the driver escaped without injury. This incident highlights the negligence of the local authorities, who have shown little care for the safety of residents and travelers.

Local residents, including farmers, students, and workers commuting to factories in Ahmedabad, face daily challenges due to the road’s condition. During the monsoon season, water accumulates in the potholes, making them invisible. This has led to numerous accidents, both minor and serious.

Fatesinh Zala, a local resident, spoke about the ongoing accidents caused by the potholes. He expressed frustration with the lack of concrete action from the government. “In summer and winter, the authorities seem to be asleep. They only act during the monsoon when the potholes are filled with water,” he said.

The community is demanding immediate repairs to make the road safe. They want the road to be resurfaced after the rainy season to prevent further accidents. The current state of the road is unacceptable, and the local government must take responsibility to ensure the safety of its citizens.

Kapadvanj, located in the Kheda district of Gujarat, is known for its rich history and culture. The town has a legacy of being a significant center for the glass and textile industries. However, the neglect of essential infrastructure like roads threatens the well-being of its residents and the local economy.

As the community awaits action, they hope to see improvements soon. The local government needs to prioritise the maintenance of roads to ensure safe travel for everyone. Without quick intervention, the situation will only worsen, leading to more accidents and frustrations for the people of Kapadvanj.
