New Shelter for Endangered Animals Opens in Gujarat

A new state-of-the-art shelter for endangered animals has opened in Viramgam, Gujarat. This facility can accommodate up to 600 animals and aims to provide a safe and self-sufficient environment. The shelter was inaugurated with a generous donation of 10 million rupees from local donors. The event was attended by several notable guests, including Guruji Arjunbhai Desai and Gujarat’s Cabinet Minister Kunvarji Bavaliya.

The shelter is part of the Shri Viramgam Khodadhor Panjrapol Sanstha. It spans over 1200 acres and features modern facilities designed to improve the welfare of animals. Dr. Girish Shah, a managing trustee of the organization, explained how the shelter supports various animal welfare initiatives. This includes creating water storage systems to ensure animals have access to drinking water throughout the year.

Additionally, the organization has planted over 5,000 native trees to create a natural habitat for the animals. The shelter also includes an animal ambulance service, which was introduced at the inauguration. This ambulance is equipped to provide emergency medical services for animals in need. It includes facilities like an operating theatre and equipment for administering anaesthesia and oxygen.

The ambulance can be reached through a dedicated helpline at 91529 90399. This service is aimed at ensuring that animals receive immediate care and support when required. Dr. Shah emphasized the ongoing commitment of the organization to enhance facilities for animals and to promote animal welfare.

The Shri Viramgam Khodadhor Panjrapol Sanstha has been active for over 21 years, working on various social causes including animal welfare, environmental protection, and rural development. Their efforts also include educational programs, health initiatives, and rescue work. They aim to address issues related to animal cruelty and promote humane treatment of all creatures.

This new shelter is a significant step toward providing better care for endangered species in Gujarat. It reflects the growing awareness and commitment to animal welfare in the region. The establishment of such facilities is critical in the fight to protect vulnerable species and ensure their survival for future generations.

As the community comes together to support these initiatives, it is hoped that more such projects will emerge across the country, fostering a culture of compassion and respect for all living beings.
