Palanpur Faces Heavy Rain: Life Comes to a Standstill

Palanpur, a city in Gujarat, has experienced heavy rainfall, leading to severe waterlogging in various areas. The local municipality has taken quick action to resolve 73 complaints related to rainwater drainage. Early in the morning, local MLA rushed to the municipality office to coordinate the response with the municipal president, vice-president, and workers. They deployed machinery and personnel to tackle the flooding in affected areas.

Major roads like Dairy Road, Gobari Road, and areas around Ramji Nagar, Kailash Nagar, and Siddhraj Jaysinh Nagar were particularly affected. Teams were sent to low-lying regions such as Mafatpura and Janata Nagar to manage the water disposal. Under the leadership of Municipal President Chimnallal Solanki, the municipality worked diligently to handle the situation, providing relief to the residents.

The heavy rainfall caused significant disruptions in daily life. Roads became submerged, making it difficult for vehicles to pass. Many areas, including Shivaji Road and Vasna Market, saw knee-deep water, causing distress among commuters. The municipality deployed six JCB machines, 15 tractors, and other equipment to clear the water. A total of 110 staff members, including 80 sanitation workers and 30 construction workers, were on standby to assist in the operations.

Residents expressed gratitude for the quick response from the municipality. The teamwork displayed by the officials helped to alleviate the flooding situation, ensuring that essential services could resume. However, there are ongoing concerns about the drainage system and its ability to cope with such heavy rainfall in the future. As the city works to recover, the community remains hopeful for improvements in infrastructure to prevent similar issues in the future.
