Palanpur Municipality has launched a strong campaign against plastic use and littering in the city. They conducted a thorough inspection from Simla Gate to the railway station. Chief Officer Jigarbhai Patel and the sanitation team checked street vendors and shops. During this effort, strict actions were taken against traders using plastic bags and individuals spreading litter in public spaces. In the last three months, the municipality confiscated over 250 kilograms of plastic. More than ₹1.5 lakh has been collected as fines from traders for plastic use. Additionally, ₹1 lakh has been collected from individuals littering in public areas. This initiative has created panic among traders.

Under this campaign, all traders selling items in plastic bags faced penalties. Chief Officer Jigarbhai Patel stated that the municipality has been running a plastic-free and cleanliness campaign for the past three months. During this time, they have seized over 250 kilograms of plastic and collected fines exceeding ₹1.5 lakh. Furthermore, they have imposed fines of over ₹1 lakh on individuals who litter in public. The municipality has also collaborated with various cleanliness organizations to involve them in this campaign. About 25 societies in the city have joined this plastic-free initiative. The municipality plans to continue these efforts to make Palanpur plastic-free.
