Palsana Gram Panchayat in Surat District has brought pride to Gujarat by winning a prestigious National E-Governance Award. Out of 1.44 lakh gram panchayats in India, Palsana has been chosen for its outstanding work in e-governance. This award will be presented at the 28th National E-Governance Conference in Visakhapatnam.

The Palsana Gram Panchayat has made significant improvements in delivering public services through digital transformation. This has increased transparency and efficiency in local governance. As a result, residents now have easier access to effective services. Palsana has set an example for other villages across the country.

The panchayat has achieved 100% online tax collection. Additionally, it plans to offer an estimated 17,484 online services to villagers during the period from 2024 to 2025. The initiative “Secure Palsana” includes the installation of around 75 CCTV cameras in various locations to improve security. Furthermore, the panchayat is implementing a door-to-door waste collection system. An e-library is currently under construction for community use.

The efforts of Sarpanch Pravinbhai Ahir and Deputy Sarpanch Pareshbhai Maisuriya have been crucial in achieving this recognition. They prioritise the welfare of villagers and work hard for the community’s benefit.

Palsana Gram Panchayat underwent evaluation by various committees at the taluka, district, and state levels before representing Gujarat at the national level. The national committee assessed Palsana through direct visits. The jury panel from the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances in New Delhi thoroughly reviewed Palsana’s work. Ultimately, Palsana stood out among the 1.44 lakh gram panchayats in the country.

During this occasion, Bhavini Patel, the President of Surat District Panchayat, expressed that receiving a national award is a matter of great pride for both Surat District and the state government. This achievement will inspire other gram panchayats in the state.

Shivani Goyel, the District Development Officer, mentioned that they aim to implement Palsana’s methods in other gram panchayats as well. This will help more people benefit from e-governance. Their goal is to ensure digital governance reaches the grassroots level, making public services more powerful.

In conclusion, the selection for the national award is not just a proud moment for Palsana but also a testament to the success of public service and digital governance in Gujarat. It proves that technology can bring positive changes to people’s lives at the rural level.
