Panchmahal District Celebrates International Cooperative Year 2025

In Panchmahal district, various cooperative institutions are celebrating the International Cooperative Year 2025. These events are held across the state of Gujarat. The Panchmahal District Cooperative Purchase and Sale Union Limited is leading the celebrations in all the blocks of the district.

The celebrations included tree planting activities in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘One Tree for My Name’ campaign. Cleanliness drives were also conducted at various locations, including the union’s offices and public spaces.

The events took place under the leadership of Chairman Chandrasinh Raoulji. Vice Chairman Parmanandbhai, members Khumansinh Chouhan, Pratapsinhbhai, and Ghanshyambhai were present. The district cooperative union chairman, Shri Raijibhai Parmar, along with chairpersons and members from various taluka unions, also attended the events. Officials from district, municipal, and taluka organisations were also present.

Special activities were organised by the Godhra and Bhamiya Seva Cooperative Society. They conducted a tree planting and cleanliness campaign at the Shri Rangeshwar Mahadev Temple in Bhamiya. District union manager Pandya, staff, liaison officers from GUJCO, Bhamiya society secretary, and local school principal, Mrs. Nayanaben, were present. The program was a success due to the cooperation of the villagers.

Panchmahal district, located in the eastern part of Gujarat, is known for its tribal population and rich cultural heritage. It is home to various historical places, temples, and natural beauty, including the famous Pavagadh hill and the ancient city of Champaner, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The district has seven talukas: Godhra, Kalol, Halol, Shahera, Lunawada, Santaramapur, and Jambughoda. It covers an area of approximately 5,210 square kilometers and has a diverse landscape ranging from hills to plains. The Mahi and Panam rivers flow through the region, providing irrigation for agriculture.

The economy of Panchmahal relies on agriculture, with crops like maize, millet, pulses, and cotton being cultivated. Additionally, dairy farming and small-scale industries are also prominent. The population, as of the 2011 census, is about 2.4 million, with a literacy rate of 72.32%.

The current celebrations for the International Cooperative Year highlight the importance of cooperation in community development. The cooperative movement aims to enhance the economic and social conditions of the people in the district, fostering unity and support among them.

As the celebrations continue, the cooperative institutions in Panchmahal are not only promoting environmental awareness but also strengthening community ties. The events are a reminder of the role cooperatives play in improving the lives of individuals and families, creating a more sustainable future for the region.
