Ahmedabad’s airport has seen an increase in drug trafficking, specifically marijuana. Authorities are taking action to combat this issue. Recently, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested a passenger arriving from Bangkok with two kilograms of hybrid marijuana worth ₹2 crore. The passenger was caught with the drugs hidden in his trolley bag.

Every day, shipments of marijuana are arriving at the Ahmedabad airport. Over the last two months, authorities seized nearly ₹50 crore worth of hybrid marijuana at the airport. This alarming trend has reached Delhi, prompting alerts to be issued to all central agencies. The Ahmedabad crime branch, Special Operations Group (SOG), Cyber Crime Branch, and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) are also involved in these efforts.

Informants have been activated to keep watch on drug trafficking activities. With increased pressure, various agency teams have become active. The DRI received a tip-off that an Indian passenger was carrying a significant amount of narcotics on a Thai Airways flight from Bangkok to Ahmedabad. The DRI team coordinated with the Air Intelligence Unit to intercept the flight. As the Thai Airways flight landed, passengers were going through customs clearance when officials stopped the Indian youth.

During initial questioning, they searched the trolley bag and found two packets hidden inside. Upon investigation, the green substance was identified as a narcotic drug. Further tests confirmed it was hybrid marijuana. The officials seized a total of 2.094 kilograms of hybrid marijuana and detained the passenger for further investigation.

The rise in drug trafficking at Ahmedabad airport raises concerns about safety and security. Authorities are determined to prevent illegal drug shipments and ensure that such actions are taken seriously. They are working together to strengthen measures against drug smuggling and protect the community from the dangers of narcotics.

In conclusion, the recent arrest at Ahmedabad airport highlights the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in India. With increased vigilance and cooperation among agencies, authorities aim to combat this growing issue effectively. The efforts to stop drug trafficking are crucial to maintain safety and security in the region.
