As the monsoon season begins, Patan city has seen a surge in potholes on various roads. Responding to this issue, the Municipal President has instructed employees to carry out repair work on these potholes. They are using red mix material and road rollers to improve road conditions. On Tuesday, the Municipal President visited the area near Padmanabh Cross Road, where they observed the repair work being done from Ved Township to Yash Villa. Four tractors were deployed to fill the potholes, and residents along with passersby appreciated the efforts of the Municipal President and the team.
In addition to the work near Padmanabh Cross Road, it has been reported that the Gujarat Urban Development Company (GUDC) is also addressing potholes near the new overbridge. This is a welcome relief for many commuters and local residents who have been struggling with the poor road conditions.
However, there have been complaints regarding the municipal administration’s handling of the situation. Many residents expressed their frustration about the delays in repairing roads after underground work was done. The underground pipes and sewer lines were installed in various areas, including Bagwada Gate and Subhash Chowk, but the roads were left in disrepair. This has caused significant inconvenience, especially as the monsoon is approaching.
The locals mentioned that despite numerous requests to the municipality, there has been little action taken to repair the roads adequately. Large potholes have formed in several places, making it dangerous for both pedestrians and drivers. With the rainy season upon us, there is a high possibility of these potholes filling with water and becoming hazardous.
Residents of Patan city are now calling on the municipality to take urgent measures to repair the roads before the heavy rains begin. They fear that if the situation does not improve, it could lead to accidents and further complications. Many vehicles have already been getting stuck in these potholes, causing delays and frustration among drivers.
The Congress Committee in Patan has also taken note of this issue and submitted a petition to the municipal authorities. They are urging for immediate action to address the potholes and the overall poor state of the roads. The Congress President in Patan, Deepakbhai Patel, stated that residents should not have to suffer due to the municipality’s inefficiencies.
In response, the Chief Officer of Patan Municipality acknowledged the complaints but pointed out that the underground work was necessary. He assured that once the work on the underground sewer lines is completed, the potholes would be filled. However, this raises concerns among residents about the timing, especially with the monsoon season fast approaching.
Meanwhile, the municipality is also addressing traffic issues in Patan city. Measures are being put in place to regulate traffic and remove illegal encroachments on the roads. The Municipality President has issued strict instructions to vendors and shopkeepers to comply with traffic rules, warning that penalties will be imposed for non-compliance.
In summary, while the repair work on Patan’s roads is a positive step, residents are anxious about the urgency of completing these repairs before the rains start. They continue to face challenges due to the poor state of the roads and are hopeful for a swift resolution to their concerns. The situation highlights the need for better coordination and timely action from the municipal authorities to ensure the safety and convenience of all citizens.
