Patan Collector Inspects Bridges in Santpur Taluka

In Patan district, teams have been formed to inspect bridges of all sizes. This decision follows a serious bridge accident that raised concerns about safety. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, District Collector Tushar Bhatt has initiated a safety audit of various bridges in the district. A report will be submitted to the government after all safety audits are completed.

Recently, Collector Tushar Bhatt inspected the Abiyana-Pedashpura bridge in Santpur taluka along with a technical team. They also reviewed the Shabdalpura bridge over the Khari river in Radhanpur taluka and another bridge connecting Radhanpur and Sami over the Banas river. During the inspection, Tushar Bhatt provided essential guidance to officials from the Roads and Buildings department and other concerned officers.

The inspection focused on several key aspects such as the structural condition of the bridges, traffic load, water drainage systems, railings, and signage. Ensuring the safety and functionality of these bridges is crucial for both local traffic and agriculture, which is the backbone of the region’s economy.

Santpur taluka, where the Abiyana village is located, has a rich history. It was under the Bombay Presidency and was part of the Banaskantha agency until 1925. After India’s independence in 1947, this area became part of Mumbai state, and later it was included in Gujarat when the state was formed in 1960. Santpur is now a significant part of Patan district, formed in 2000.

The economy of Santpur relies heavily on agriculture. Key crops include wheat, peanuts, sesame, and millet. Farming is supported by favorable weather conditions and a blend of traditional and modern agricultural practices. In addition to agriculture, local handicrafts and small industries contribute to the economy.

Santpur’s culture is vibrant, with festivals showcasing traditional art forms and local cuisine. The region is well-connected by roads, facilitating trade and tourism. Public and private bus services make transportation easy between rural and urban areas. Education facilities are available, including primary and secondary schools as well as colleges.

Health services are also accessible, with government health centers and private hospitals serving the community. The ongoing development in agriculture and energy sectors, particularly due to the Solar Park in Charanka village, is promising for the future of Santpur. The government is encouraging various development projects to enhance employment opportunities and improve living standards in the area.

As the inspections and safety audits continue, the focus remains on ensuring that the infrastructure in Patan district supports the growth of agriculture and the well-being of its residents. By addressing potential safety issues now, the district aims to prevent future accidents and ensure a secure environment for all.
