On June 22, Patan District will hold elections for 232 Gram Panchayats. This election will see voting for 224 Sarpanch (village heads) and 563 ward members. Voting will take place using ballot papers from 7 AM to 6 PM. A total of 606 polling stations will be set up across the nine talukas of the district. To facilitate the election process, 642 ballot boxes will be used. Moreover, 94 election officers and 94 assistant election officers have been appointed to oversee the voting. A total of 3,402 staff members will assist during polling.
Out of 513,786 eligible voters, there are 262,699 male voters and 251,087 female voters. Additionally, 391 service voters are registered. Among the polling stations, 299 have been classified as sensitive. To ensure law and order, 1,225 police personnel will be deployed.
The election materials were distributed from the BB building of Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University. Items like ballot boxes, ink, diaries, and voting tools were among the 100 items provided. Staff members will reach polling stations using buses and private vehicles, escorted by police.
Voters must present a valid ID to vote. Acceptable documents include Election cards, PAN cards, Aadhaar cards, passports, and driving licenses. Counting of votes will occur at nine locations in the district on June 25.
