Patan District Prepares for Heavy Rainfall

The Patan district in Gujarat is bracing for heavy rainfall starting June 21. The weather department has issued a warning of extreme rain that could lead to flooding in low-lying areas. In response, an emergency meeting of the Disaster Management Committee was held under the leadership of District Collector Tushar Bhatt. The meeting aimed to review the preparations and relief operations in light of the forecast.

Collector Bhatt emphasized the need for readiness to face any situation caused by the rain. He instructed all relevant departments to remain alert and equipped to handle potential disasters. The safety of citizens is the highest priority for the administration. They are committed to taking all necessary steps to prevent loss of life and property.

During the meeting, the committee reviewed the list of dilapidated buildings in the district. Immediate action was ordered to evacuate dangerous buildings and properties. The meeting also discussed the need for cleaning drainage lines and ensuring proper disposal of rainwater.

Additionally, arrangements were made for shelters in flood-prone areas. The authorities will also work to relocate affected individuals to safer locations. The committee is prepared to provide financial assistance in case of human or animal casualties. They discussed measures to prevent the spread of diseases like malaria and dengue, including awareness campaigns and stockpiling necessary medicines.

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams will be deployed in likely affected areas. Collector Bhatt assured that the administrative machinery is fully prepared to deal with any unforeseen circumstances. Teams will be ready to conduct airlifting if necessary.

As the rain approaches, the district administration urges residents to stay informed and follow safety guidelines. The local government is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of the community during this challenging time.
