Patan Police Seize Foreign Liquor from Driver

A recent operation by the Patan Local Crime Branch (LCB) resulted in the arrest of a driver carrying a large quantity of foreign liquor. The incident occurred on the Thara-Harij road when the driver was intercepted in a Hyundai Accent car. The police received a tip-off about the vehicle, which was heading towards Katra village.

Upon receiving the information, the LCB team set up surveillance on the road. When the Hyundai Accent with registration number GJ-01-KE-0431 was spotted, police officers attempted to stop the car. However, the driver tried to escape towards Jaswantpura. The police pursued him, and during the chase, the driver abandoned the car and attempted to flee on foot. While one person managed to escape into nearby fields, the driver was apprehended by the police.

Upon inspecting the car, the LCB team discovered 436 bottles and pouches of various brands of foreign liquor, valued at approximately ₹85,020. The arrested driver was identified as Jayantigars Persottamgar Nathugar, aged 48, from Morbi, who was found to be in possession of the illegal goods.

In addition to the driver, another individual involved in the case was also identified. The police have registered a case against both suspects at the Harij police station. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are looking into the broader network involved in the illegal liquor trade.

This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement in Gujarat to combat illegal activities, including the smuggling of foreign liquor. Such actions are crucial in maintaining law and order in the region, ensuring that the community remains safe from the potential dangers associated with unregulated alcohol distribution.

The seizure is part of a larger strategy by the police to crack down on illegal liquor trade, which is a rising concern in many parts of India. The distribution of foreign liquor without proper licenses poses risks not only to public health but also to the local economy. Law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to prevent such illegal activities and prosecute those involved.

As the investigation unfolds, the police encourage the public to report any suspicious activities that could be linked to illegal liquor trade. Community cooperation plays a vital role in helping authorities tackle these issues effectively.

In conclusion, the arrest of the driver and the seizure of foreign liquor by the Patan LCB is a significant step in the fight against illegal liquor trade in Gujarat. The police remain committed to ensuring that such operations continue to protect the community and uphold the law.
