The preparations for the Rath Yatra are already underway. The managing trustee of the Jagannath Temple Trust, Piyush Acharya, held a press conference to outline the schedule of events. He mentioned that on June 21, a special ceremony called ‘Mannorath’ would take place in front of Lord Jagannath. This involves offering mangoes to the deity, which is a traditional practice.

A water procession will start from Ganesh Ashram and travel through the streets of Patna, including popular areas like Subhash Chowk and the old Ganj Bazaar. This procession will feature music and celebrations, culminating in a special ritual at the temple.

On June 22 at 11:00 AM, a unique event called ‘Netrotsav’ will take place. This is a ritual where the eyes of the deity are treated, symbolising healing and care. Devotees believe that this ceremony brings blessings and good fortune.

Following the rituals, cultural programs will be held. Bhajan sessions will take place on June 23 and 24, where various groups will perform devotional songs. On June 25, the ‘Chakshu Unmilan’ ceremony will be conducted, where Lord Jagannath will be brought back to the temple after worshipping.

The main Rath Yatra will be on June 27, starting after a special prayer session for Lord Jagannath, his brother Balram, and sister Subhadra. The procession will begin at 2:00 PM, with thousands of devotees expected to participate. This year, the Rath will carry offerings of fruits and sweets, showcasing the community’s devotion.

Security measures are in place to ensure the safety of all attendees, with police and home guard personnel deployed throughout the route. The event is expected to attract not only locals but also tourists and dignitaries. Notable personalities, including film stars and government officials, usually grace the occasion, adding to the festive spirit.
