Today, North Gujarat celebrated Pilot Day 2025 in Palanpur, the main town of Banaskantha district. The event was chaired by District Collector Mihir Patel. The celebration included employees from emergency services in Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, and Ahmedabad districts. They were honoured for their hard work and dedication. During the event, a book titled ‘EM CARE & VET CARE’ was launched by distinguished guests.
Collector Mihir Patel praised the 108 emergency service in Gujarat. He noted that the average response time improved from 14.47 minutes to 14.34 minutes. He highlighted that the 108 service is not just a job but a service to humanity, acting as a symbol of trust. He congratulated the employees for their commendable service.
Jashwant Prajapati, an officer from the 108 service, explained that Pilot Day is celebrated on May 26, and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Day is observed on April 2 each year. Both days are crucial for providing prompt medical assistance to patients. The aim is to transport people to hospitals quickly.
During the event, best-performing employees and officials were recognised and awarded for their outstanding contributions. Services such as Kilkhilat, Mobile Veterinary Units, Health Sanjeevani, and the 181 Abhayam and Women Helpline, which operate 24 hours a day, were acknowledged.
Various awards were presented, including the EM Care Award, Honesty Award, Academic Excellence Award, and best case awards for consistent performance throughout the year. The Pilot Day celebrations took place in different zones across the state. In South Gujarat, it was held in Dangs, Saurashtra in Junagadh, Central Gujarat in Anand, and in North Gujarat in Palanpur.
The event was a reminder of the importance of emergency services in saving lives and providing timely care. It highlighted the dedication of the workers who strive to make a difference in their communities. The recognition of their efforts encourages them to continue their important work in the healthcare sector, ensuring that help is available when it is needed the most.
