On May 26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bhuj, Gujarat, to launch several significant development projects. This event marked his first trip to Gujarat after the successful ‘Operation Sindhoor’. During his visit, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects totaling ₹53,414 crore. The projects included 33 initiatives aimed at enhancing infrastructure and promoting renewable energy in the region.
Among the projects launched were the Centre of Excellence in Gandhidham, improvements to local temples, and the construction of new roads and bridges. PM Modi emphasized the importance of these developments for the local economy and community well-being.
Modi’s speech began in the Kutchhi language, reflecting his connection to the region. He expressed gratitude for the blessings of the local goddess, indicating the cultural significance of the area. His words resonated with the audience, as he highlighted the longstanding relationship he has with Kutch, stating, “Your love is so great that I cannot stop visiting Kutch.”
The Prime Minister praised Kutch’s rich culture and urged everyone to experience the Rann Utsav, a festival showcasing local crafts and traditions. He acknowledged the transformation Kutch has undergone since the devastating earthquake in 2001, stating that the region is now a hub for trade, business, and tourism.
PM Modi also addressed the topic of tourism, stressing its role in connecting people. He contrasted India’s focus on tourism with Pakistan’s association of tourism with terrorism, highlighting that India’s approach fosters peace and unity.
The Prime Minister noted that Kutch is becoming a significant center for green energy, particularly green hydrogen, which he believes will be a crucial fuel for the future. He mentioned the establishment of a green hydrogen production facility in Kandla, which he described as one of the three major centers in the country.
Modi also reminisced about the crucial role women played during the 1971 India-Pakistan war, recalling how local women worked tirelessly to prepare airstrips under challenging conditions. This historical reference was intended to inspire pride and resilience among the local population.
Overall, the event in Bhuj was marked by a grand roadshow, drawing large crowds who came out to welcome the Prime Minister. Following the Bhuj visit, Modi was scheduled to travel to Ahmedabad for another roadshow, further showcasing the government’s commitment to engaging with the people directly.
