Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a two-day visit to Gujarat on May 26, 2025. His visit aims to support the vision of a developed India by 2047. Upon his arrival at Vadodara Airport, he was warmly welcomed by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other dignitaries.
During this visit, PM Modi will inaugurate several significant projects designed to enhance Gujarat’s growth. These initiatives are expected to position the state as a leader in India’s development. A key highlight was the inauguration of a Railway Manufacturing Plant in Dahod, which was built at a cost of over ₹21,000 crore. This plant will create job opportunities for local youth and modernise the railway system.
The Prime Minister’s schedule includes various inaugurations and announcements of future plans. He will visit multiple locations, engaging with local communities to discuss these projects. One of the main projects is the Manufacturing Shop-Rolling Stock Workshop in Dahod. This facility will foster local employment and contribute to the modernisation of India’s railways.
At the inauguration, the Prime Minister will also unveil the first electric locomotive produced at this plant. These locomotives will be used for domestic needs and for export, with a capacity of 9000 HP. PM Modi is committed to enhancing the railway infrastructure in Gujarat, a crucial aspect of the country’s transport network.
The Prime Minister’s itinerary includes other major announcements, such as the launch of the Sabarmati-Veraval Vande Bharat Express. This train service will connect Sabarmati with Veraval six days a week, linking important locations including the Somnath Temple. Another service, the Valsad-Dahod Express, will operate daily, covering a distance of 346 km with 17 coaches.
In addition to railway projects, PM Modi will inaugurate four drinking water supply schemes. These projects, costing ₹181 crore, aim to benefit 193 villages and one city in the Mahisagar and Dahod districts, providing clean water to around 462,000 residents.
On the second day of his visit, Modi will lead a roadshow from Ahmedabad Airport to Indira Bridge, expecting the participation of over 50,000 BJP workers and local citizens. Later, he will stay overnight at the Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar. The next day, he will conduct another roadshow in Gandhinagar, where over 30,000 BJP supporters are anticipated to join.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate projects worth ₹5,536 crore at Mahatma Mandir, enhancing Gujarat’s infrastructure further. This includes the development of solar energy projects, electricity transmission, and road infrastructure.
Through these initiatives, PM Modi aims to ensure that Gujarat plays a pivotal role in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047. His visit is seen as a significant step towards achieving this vision, with a focus on local development and job creation.
