In a significant move to counter espionage activities linked to Pakistan, the Gujarat police have intensified their operations. Recent reports indicate that several individuals across the country have been arrested for spying. This includes the apprehension of 15 spies, including a young woman YouTuber, just ahead of Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Kutch.
One of the key arrests was of a Pakistani spy named Sahdev Singh Gohil, who was employed at the Dayapar Health Centre. He was found to be passing sensitive information to Aditi Bhardwaj, a suspected Pakistani agent. This incident has raised concerns about the extent of espionage activities occurring in Gujarat and prompted various agencies to launch thorough investigations to identify more such spies.
The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Gujarat detained a person from Kutch who was allegedly sharing photos and videos of the Indian Navy through WhatsApp with contacts in Pakistan. Reports suggest that he received an amount of 40,000 rupees from his handlers in Pakistan for his spying activities. Investigations are ongoing to track down these networks.
Previously, Jasim Ansari from Nadiad was arrested for attempting a cyber attack on several government websites with the help of a teenage girl. He had created an Instagram group promoting anti-national sentiments and boasted of his actions in the context of Operation Sindoor, an operation launched by India in response to a terrorist attack.
As tensions between India and Pakistan continue to rise, certain elements are allegedly spreading anti-national content on social media. To combat this, a dedicated monitoring cell has been established, keeping a close watch on all social media platforms to prevent the dissemination of harmful posts. The team has been expanded to effectively handle the growing threat posed by anti-national elements.
In light of these developments, police have begun filing complaints and blocking the social media accounts of individuals involved in spreading such content. Security agencies have heightened their vigilance, following incidents of espionage across various states in India.
In another recent case, a suspect named Qasim was arrested in Rajasthan for having ties to Pakistan. Intelligence Bureau officials found evidence linking him to Pakistani connections, including a marriage to a Pakistani woman. His arrest came after he was found to be in communication with individuals in Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, which targeted terrorist camps.
Furthermore, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has also arrested a CRPF soldier named Motiram Jat for providing sensitive information to Pakistani intelligence. This highlights a broader crackdown on individuals involved in espionage, with 14 arrests made in just two weeks from various states, including Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.
The increasing number of arrests indicates a rising concern regarding national security, particularly in the wake of the recent terrorist activities and the ongoing tensions with Pakistan. Authorities are taking decisive steps to neutralise threats and safeguard India’s interests, ensuring that those who conspire against the nation are brought to justice.
As the situation develops, police and intelligence agencies remain on high alert, determined to prevent further espionage and protect the country from potential threats.
