Police Seize Car Loaded with 857 Bottles of Foreign Liquor in Shihori

In a significant operation, the Local Crime Branch (LCB) police seized a car filled with 857 bottles of foreign liquor in the Shihori area of Kankrej. The total value of the seized items is approximately ₹1,023,357. The operation took place late at night after the police received a tip-off about the illegal transport of liquor. The LCB team set up surveillance along the Khimana Soni Jasali Road, where the vehicle was expected to pass. When the car, a Creta with registration number GJ05JR4182, arrived, the police stopped it for inspection. Upon checking, they discovered that the vehicle was carrying Indian-made foreign liquor. The driver, Ganeshbhai Rabari from Tharad, was taken into custody along with the car. The police brought both the driver and the vehicle to the nearby Shihori police station for further legal action.

During the search, officials found 857 bottles of English liquor, valued at ₹393,349, hidden under the seats and inside the trunk. The Creta car itself was worth ₹625,000, and a mobile phone valued at ₹5,000 was also seized. The total value of the confiscated items adds up to ₹1,023,349. The case has now been handed over to the Tharad police for further investigation.

This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the police to combat illegal liquor trade in the region. The presence of foreign liquor in the area raises concerns about its availability and the potential for related criminal activities. Authorities are urging the public to report any suspicious activities that may indicate illegal liquor trafficking.

Furthermore, this incident is not isolated. Recently, the Shihori area has faced several challenges related to fire safety and illegal activities. A recent fire in a local fabric shop caused significant damage, leading to calls for improved fire safety measures. Local residents are advocating for the establishment of fire-fighting facilities in Shihori, as the lack of such resources has been a concern for some time.

As the police continue their efforts to maintain law and order, community support remains crucial. The police encourage citizens to remain vigilant and report any illegal activities to help keep their neighbourhoods safe. The crackdown on illegal liquor trade and the push for better fire safety services are steps towards creating a safer environment for all residents in Shihori and surrounding areas.
