In a recent operation, the Patan Local Crime Branch (LCB) team stopped a vehicle near Harij and seized a large quantity of foreign liquor. The operation took place following a tip-off about a Swift car carrying illegal alcohol. The police set up a blockade and successfully intercepted the vehicle.
The Swift car, registered as GJ-03-CA-3040, was found to contain a significant haul of foreign liquor bottles and tins worth approximately ₹4,22,155. This included 648 kilograms of foreign-made alcohol. The LCB team acted upon information received regarding the vehicle’s route, which was reportedly passing near the Narmada Canal close to Mansa village.
During the blockade, the driver of the vehicle managed to escape under the cover of darkness. However, the police seized the liquor and the car. The LCB has registered a case against the driver, who is currently on the run, and efforts are underway to locate and apprehend him. This incident is part of ongoing efforts by the Patan police to curb the distribution of illegal alcohol in the region.
Local authorities are particularly concerned about the increasing instances of liquor smuggling, which poses public health risks and contributes to crime rates in the area. The LCB’s proactive approach is seen as a necessary step in maintaining law and order. The police have urged the community to report any suspicious activities related to illegal alcohol trade.
The seizure highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in controlling the illegal liquor trade, especially given the prevalence of such activities in rural areas. The Patan police are committed to intensifying their efforts to combat this issue, and local residents are encouraged to cooperate with the authorities in these endeavors.
Residents in Patan have expressed their support for the police’s actions and have called for stricter regulations and enforcement against illegal liquor trading. The local government has also promised to enhance patrols and surveillance in areas known for smuggling activities.
This operation is part of a broader initiative by Gujarat police to tackle illegal liquor production and distribution, which has been a persistent problem in the state. The LCB has been actively involved in various operations aimed at disrupting these illegal networks.
As the investigation continues, police are hopeful that they will be able to track down the escaped driver and bring him to justice. In the meantime, they remain vigilant and ready to respond to any tips from the public regarding illegal activities.
Overall, this incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing battle against illegal liquor in Gujarat and the importance of community involvement in supporting law enforcement efforts.
