Rain Forecast for Saurashtra and South Gujarat

Rain Forecast for Saurashtra and South Gujarat

The weather department has predicted rain in Saurashtra and South Gujarat over the next five days. This follows rain that fell on Friday, June 6, in several areas including Amreli, Khambha, and the Gir region. The rain brought relief from the heat, cooling the atmosphere significantly.

According to the forecast, over 11 districts in the region can expect moderate rain with thunderstorms. Districts such as Rajkot, Botad, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Vadodara, Panchmahal, Dahod, Chhota Udaipur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Dang, Navsari, and Valsad are included in this prediction.

On Saturday, June 8, rain is expected in Gir Somnath, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Bharuch, Chhota Udaipur, Surat, Tapi, Dang, Navsari, and Valsad. Additionally, from June 9 to June 12, there will be scattered rainfall in Amreli, Bhavnagar, Navsari, Dang, and Valsad.

On Friday afternoon, after a hot day, the rain started in two talukas of Amreli. Light showers were reported in Virpur, Ingorala, and Govindpur in the Dhari Gir area. The rain began slowly in the Vadiya region, spreading to nearby villages.

In Khambha, Gir, heavy rain was reported on Friday, with good rainfall in villages like Talda, Khadadhar, Borala, and Chakravapara. Locals noted that the rain was crucial for the area, especially on Bhim Agiyaras, a significant day in the local calendar.

In Vadiya city, the heavy rain led to water flowing on the streets. The water level reached knee height on some roads, particularly on PGVCL Road and near the post office. The sight of water flowing like a river was alarming for many residents.

The rains have caused mixed reactions among farmers. While the rain is beneficial for crops, it also raises concerns about damage to ongoing harvests. The sudden change in weather can disrupt agricultural activities, especially during the summer season when crops are being harvested.

The weather department’s warning of possible thunderstorms and rain has put farmers on alert. They are worried about the potential impact on crops such as peanuts and millet, which are particularly sensitive to weather changes. The farmers are now watching the skies, hoping for a balance between needed rain and the risk of damage to their livelihoods.

As the rain continues, it is expected to bring both relief and challenges for the local communities. The changing weather patterns highlight the need for preparedness in agriculture, especially during these unpredictable times.
