Gaji Haji Aladad, the seller, belongs to a family that has been involved in livestock farming for generations. They currently own around 80 buffaloes and produce about 300 litres of milk daily. Gaji’s two eldest sons have also joined the family business.
The Banni buffalo is known for its unique features, including its uniform black colour and attractive horns. Generally, buffaloes in Kutch sell for prices ranging from ₹5 to ₹7 lakh, making this record-breaking sale particularly surprising.
