Residents of Banaskantha district in Gujarat are calling for a daily train service between Bhuj and Bandra. Currently, the train operates only two days a week, which is causing frustration among commuters. People from towns like Bhabhar, Diyodar, and Disa often travel to major cities like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Mumbai for business and social events. The limited train service forces many to rely on private luxury buses or state-run buses, which poses safety risks during travel.
The train from Bhuj to Bandra takes 17 hours and covers a distance of 972 kilometres. Passengers have expressed that having a daily train would make their journeys safer and more convenient. They argue that other routes are getting new trains, while their needs are being overlooked.
Many passengers have voiced their concerns to railway officials in Ahmedabad, but they feel that their requests have gone unheard. Commuters have also noted the absence of an information display at railway stations, leading to confusion about train schedules.
Moreover, passengers are suggesting changes to the train timings. Currently, the train arrives in Bandra at 11:15 AM, but many would prefer it to arrive earlier, around 7 or 8 AM, allowing them to return home the same day.
The demand for a reservation window at Bhabhar railway station is also high. Currently, there is no facility for train reservations at this station, which complicates travel plans for local residents.
If their demands are not met, there are indications that the passengers may resort to protests. They believe that their long-standing concerns should be addressed to ensure better travel facilities for the region. The residents are determined to see improvements in their train services and are hopeful for a positive response from the railway authorities soon.
