In Deesa, a retired government employee fell victim to a robbery while he was taking his pension money home. Sheikh Jamilbhai Shabbirbhai, aged around 70, had recently withdrawn ₹30,000 from the State Bank of India. He was on his way home when he encountered a young man on a motorcycle. This man claimed to be a neighbor and offered to escort Jamilbhai home. Trusting him, Jamilbhai was led to a secluded area near Gayatri Temple. There, the young man suddenly snatched the bag containing the pension money and fled the scene.
The incident occurred just five days ago in Mira Mohalla, a residential area in Deesa. Jamilbhai, who also works as a pan vendor, was returning home through the narrow lanes of Furwadi when he was approached by the suspect.
After the robbery, Jamilbhai reported the incident to the Deesa South Police Station. The police have started an investigation into the case. They are reviewing CCTV footage from the area. However, they noticed that the motorcycle used in the crime did not have a number plate. This suggests that the robbers may have planned the theft carefully to avoid detection.
Local residents are shocked by the incident. Many express their concern over the increasing number of thefts in the area. Community leaders are urging the police to enhance security measures and increase patrols in neighborhoods.
The police encourage anyone with information about the robbery or the suspect to come forward. They also remind citizens to be cautious when handling large amounts of cash. It is advisable to avoid sharing personal information with strangers, especially in unfamiliar areas.
As the investigation continues, the police are hopeful that they will apprehend the suspect soon. They are also working to ensure that such incidents do not happen again in the future. The community is rallying together, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and supporting one another during these challenging times.
