The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, will inaugurate development works at the Ashapura Mata temple on May 26. The project cost ₹32.71 crore. This initiative aims to improve facilities for the devotees visiting this sacred site. The temple complex will now have better amenities, including improved access to the Khattla Bhavani Temple and Chachra Kund, which have both been renovated.
The project also includes beautification of the Ruparay Talav, the construction of an entrance plaza, and enhanced parking facilities. Other completed works involve providing drinking water, sanitation, seating arrangements, and plantation efforts within the pilgrimage area.
During his two-day visit to Gujarat, Prime Minister Modi will visit Kutch on the first day. He will inaugurate 33 development projects worth ₹53,414 crore at a ceremony in Bhuj. Among these projects, the e-inauguration of the Ashapura Mata temple development works will be a key highlight.
The state government, along with the Gujarat Sacred Pilgrimage Development Board, has implemented a master plan for the renovation and redevelopment of the Ashapura site located in the Lakhpat taluka of Kutch district. This plan is now complete, enhancing the facilities for devotees at the Ashapura Mata temple.
Under the master plan, major facilities have been established for devotees visiting the Ashapura Mata temple. The Khattla Bhavani Temple and Chachra Kund have been given new looks. The Ruparay Talav has been beautified, and an entrance plaza and parking facilities have been created. Additionally, the pilgrimage site now has drinking water facilities, sanitation, seating arrangements, and plantation work completed.
The Khattla Bhavani Temple is situated at the top of a hill, accessible by stairs and a motorable road. A large area near the temple offers a panoramic view of the surrounding Ashapura village. The master plan has renovated the pathway to this temple, clad the temple in stone, and developed the surrounding area for visitors. Facilities like walkways, a children’s play area, gazebo repairs, vehicle access ramps, plantation, parking, and restroom blocks have been established.
The Chachra Kund, an ancient water reservoir that retains water year-round, has also undergone restoration. Previously in a dilapidated state, the area now features modern lighting, walkways, a children’s play area, and seating arrangements. Visitors can also enjoy cooking and dining facilities.
Furthermore, an amphitheater-style seating arrangement, plantation work, restroom blocks, and repairs to the main entrance of the temple have been completed as part of this redevelopment plan. The final phase of the master plan has seen developments around the Ruparay Talav and the Ashapura Mata temple completed as well. This revitalisation is set to enhance the experience of millions of devotees who visit the Ashapura Mata temple, especially during the festival of Navratri, when the number of visitors significantly increases.
