Recently, the Rotary Club of Patan and the District Police celebrated Menstrual Hygiene Day at the Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University Convention Hall. The event aimed to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene and to distribute menstrual cups to female police officers. Notable attendees included female police inspectors Bhatt, B.P. Menat, and Modia. Dr. Naisargiben Patel provided detailed information about the benefits of menstrual cups, both physical and economic, for women. The event included a question-and-answer session where female police officers actively participated, making the programme engaging.
The coordinator of the event, R. Babubhai Prajapati, explained that this menstrual cup initiative is part of a project by the Rotary Club of Ahmedabad. Thanks to efforts by Ravi Srivastava, CEO of Omni Lens Private Ltd., the Rotary Club received donations amounting to around one crore INR. The menstrual cups, not readily available in the Indian market, are typically priced at 2,700 INR in Germany and Europe. Over 200 cups were distributed to the female police officers in Patan. The district police chief’s supportive approach towards the health of police staff was commendable during this significant event.
This initiative highlights the importance of menstrual hygiene in the workplace, especially for women in law enforcement. By providing menstrual cups, the Rotary Club and District Police are not only promoting health but also helping to reduce stigma around menstruation.
