On July 4, a roundtable discussion took place at GIFT City in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. This event aimed to promote the Gujarat Global Capability Centers (GCC) Policy for 2025-30. The roundtable was organised by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) of the Gujarat government, in collaboration with HSBC.
Mona Khandhar, the Principal Secretary of the DST, highlighted that Gujarat’s policies align with the national vision for the service sector in India. She mentioned that in just one year, the state government has implemented five new policies to encourage innovation, investment, and inclusive development.
Investors have praised the state’s policy framework and the availability of skilled human resources. Gujarat is considered a safe state for women, and its law and order situation ranks among the best in the country. This makes Gujarat a secure and reliable place for investments.
Ashish Tripathi, CEO of HSBC and head of the GIFT City branch, reaffirmed HSBC’s commitment to innovation and investment in Gujarat during the opening of the discussion. Anita Mishra, HSBC India’s MD and Head of Markets and Securities Services, praised Gujarat’s rapid development and the crucial role of the GCC policy. She stated that this policy provides a balanced and robust framework for structural support, R&D encouragement, and skill upgrading for local talent.
Presentations from GIFT City and DST officials highlighted the key incentives and policy framework offered by the state government for industries. Company representatives showed keen interest in expanding their operations in Gujarat. Participants praised the structured incentives of the GCC policy, noting that the CAPEX and OPEX support offered would significantly aid their organisational growth and long-term planning.
Khandhar answered questions regarding eligibility criteria and application processes, further clarifying the policy and showcasing its investment-friendly approach. The roundtable reinforced Gujarat’s position as a strategic hub for GCC. The event concluded with a strong message of cooperation and development, bolstering Gujarat’s status as a preferred destination for global companies.
A total of 27 leading national and international companies participated in the discussion, including CEOs, CFOs, and senior officials from firms like PMC Retail, Astha India, Litera India, QX Global, and others. This showcased the growing confidence in Gujarat’s evolving policy perspective and management in the industrial sector. Senior officials from the Gujarat government, including Khandhar and Kavita Shah, the Director of ICT and E-Governance, were also present.
The roundtable featured notable participants like Rishi Bhandari from IDEXX India, Subhasachi Mohapatra from Nikkiso Cosmed, and Manish Madan from Astha India, among others. Their presence highlighted the interest of various sectors in Gujarat’s GCC policy and the opportunities it presents for future growth and investment.
Overall, the roundtable discussion not only promoted the GCC policy but also strengthened the collaboration between the government and the business community, paving the way for a vibrant economic future in Gujarat.
