The National Defence University (RRU) in Gandhinagar is enhancing its global outreach and educational partnerships. This initiative aligns with India’s Amrit Kaal Vision 2047. Recently, a high-level RRU delegation visited Qatar from June 11 to 16, 2025. During this visit, the team engaged in discussions with key institutions and stakeholders, including the Indian Embassy in Doha and the Skill Development Centre (SDC) of Qatar. These discussions aim to boost the employability and skills of the Indian diaspora through quality training and certification.
The SDC, founded in 2002, focuses on talent and personality development through educational activities. It organises major programmes, such as performances and exhibitions, celebrating its heritage. The SDC serves as a vibrant platform for the Indian diaspora in Qatar, connecting them to comprehensive development opportunities. Moreover, SDC plays a crucial role in enhancing the skills of Indian citizens in Qatar, aligning their capabilities with international standards and local workforce requirements.
During the delegation’s visit, RRU and SDC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement aims to provide various activities for the Indian diaspora, focusing on fields like private security, cyber security, artificial intelligence, psychology, and fitness management. These programs are designed to empower participants with high-quality, job-related training.
Significant discussions also took place on topics like cyber security, drone technology, AI-based surveillance, stress and injury management, and counselling services for families of differently-abled children. The police college academy in Qatar was also a key focus during the talks.
The RRU delegation explored potential collaborations with the police college academy and the security systems directorate, particularly in the areas of artificial intelligence and innovation labs. The RRU’s vision, ‘Global Education, Local Impact,’ aims to provide world-class educational access while contributing to India’s knowledge-based development.
RRU remains committed to advancing research, training, and education to build a secure and informed global society. By fostering continuous connections with the Indian diaspora and strategic partnerships with global institutions, RRU aims to promote academic excellence and enhance capacity-building initiatives.
