The Himatnagar B Division police have made an important arrest during their investigation into undetected crimes. They caught a man named Kundan Jayantibhai Vankar, aged 37, near the Bholeshwar bridge. He was found with a stolen motorcycle without any proof of ownership. The bike, which has the number GJ.09.CT.8070, was later confirmed as stolen using the Pocketcop e-Gujcop mobile app. The police seized the bike, valued at ₹15,000.
During the investigation, it came to light that Vankar had been arrested seven times before for similar bike thefts. He had been caught four times at the Himatnagar B Division police station and three times at the A Division police station. After being released from jail, he committed another theft. The police have now initiated legal action against him.
This arrest is part of a larger effort by the Sabarkantha Local Crime Branch (LCB) to tackle rising crime rates in the area. In recent months, there have been several reports of animal thefts, particularly in the Himatnagar region. Criminals have been targeting livestock, stealing goats under the cover of darkness. In one instance, thieves loaded a vehicle with stolen goats while the owners were unaware.
The LCB has been vigilant and has also captured a gang suspected of these livestock thefts. They managed to recover property worth ₹6,78,110 from the gang. Through CCTV footage, police tracked down the vehicle used in the thefts and arrested the suspects, who confessed to several crimes, including a robbery and multiple animal thefts.
In a different operation, the Sabarkantha LCB arrested a notorious thief who had been on the run for six years. This individual was involved in over twenty thefts across Sabarkantha and Aravalli districts. The police used intelligence and surveillance to track him down, leading to his capture in the village of Valighanti Prasad.
The police have been focusing on improving safety and reducing crime in the region. Officers are working hard to keep the community safe from thieves who operate at night. They are also collaborating with neighbouring states to prevent cross-border crime, as many criminals come from Rajasthan to commit thefts in Gujarat.
The recent arrests show the determination of Sabarkantha police to tackle crime effectively. They continue to investigate and search for additional suspects in connection with ongoing theft cases. The community is encouraged to report any suspicious activities to help the police in their efforts. With continued vigilance and cooperation, the police hope to reduce crime rates and make Sabarkantha a safer place for everyone.
