Until a new president is appointed, Shailesh Parmar, a member of the assembly, will take over the duties of the Gujarat Congress President.

He thanked Congress leaders, including President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Mukul Wasnik, for their support. He stated, ‘I am proud to be a disciplined soldier of India’s oldest and best political party. I have worked hard and always tried to give my best to our party. Unfortunately, we have not succeeded today. We lost in Visavadar and Kadi.’
In the by-elections, AAP candidate Gopal Italiya won in Visavadar, receiving 17,554 votes, while BJP candidate Rajendra Chavda won in Kadi with 39,452 votes. Gohil made his resignation announcement on social media, expressing his pride in being part of the Congress party and his commitment to continue serving as a party worker. He acknowledged the guidance he received from prominent party leaders, which he considers his greatest blessing.
