Stray Animals Continue to Plague Deesa Despite Spending Lakhs

Deesa city in Gujarat is facing a serious problem with stray animals. The presence of cows, donkeys, and other animals on the streets has become a headache for residents. Many innocent drivers and pedestrians have lost their lives due to accidents caused by these wandering animals. In response, the state government and district collector have directed all municipalities to tackle the issue of strays. However, despite spending lakhs of rupees each year, the Deesa municipality has failed to resolve the problem. There are concerns about possible corruption in the operations aimed at catching these animals.

Recently, the agency tasked with capturing stray animals did not provide safety equipment to its workers. They only managed to catch donkeys near the Garden Circle and Maharana Pratap High School Circle. Even though the municipality assigned the agency to capture cows and donkeys, only donkeys were captured. Animal rights activists have expressed outrage, claiming that cruelty is being inflicted on the animals during this operation.

This agency has previously received contracts to catch strays, with millions of rupees paid. Despite this, the number of stray animals in the city has increased again. The repeated assignment of contracts to the same agency has raised many questions. Residents are demanding accountability as the municipality continues to spend large sums without finding a solution.

The situation in Deesa is alarming. Citizens are living in fear as stray animals roam freely on the streets. The presence of these animals has become a daily obstacle, causing serious accidents and injuries. Reports indicate that several people have been injured or even died in accidents involving stray animals in just three days.

The municipality’s annual contract system has not brought any significant change. Recently, an operation was launched near the Garden Circle to capture strays, but the problem persists. This raises serious questions about the effectiveness of the municipality’s actions. There is a clear lack of significant change at the ground level, leaving citizens with ongoing difficulties and fears.

This issue highlights not only the problem with stray animals but also a failure in governance. Residents are questioning why only donkeys are being captured while cows are ignored. This selective capturing violates the contract rules, which state that all types of stray animals must be caught. The contractor seems satisfied with just capturing donkeys, raising questions about the seriousness and scope of the operation.

In conclusion, the ongoing issue of stray animals in Deesa has led to widespread dissatisfaction among residents. The municipality’s failure to address this problem effectively, despite spending large amounts of money and assigning contracts, raises serious concerns. Citizens are calling for a thorough investigation and action against those responsible for this persistent issue. Until a proper solution is found, the safety and wellbeing of Deesa’s residents remain at risk.
