Students at Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University in Patan are facing difficulties in securing admission to postgraduate courses. The GCAS portal, which is used for the admission process, does not display the university’s name. In contrast, other universities in Gujarat, such as Gujarat University, Sardar Patel University, and MS University in Vadodara, are listed on the portal.
The choice filling process began on May 29 and will continue until June 4. It is expected that the university’s name will appear on the portal after June 15. However, the lack of official information on the portal, along with reports of the university’s 200 colleges losing accreditation, has raised concerns among students.
There are discussions among university circles suggesting that this process may be aimed at benefiting some private universities. As a result, students from medium and poor families in North Gujarat might be forced to seek admission in universities outside the state or at private institutions.
In response to this situation, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) met with the university’s Vice-Chancellor on Friday. They warned that if the portal does not open by Monday, they will lead a protest with students. The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. K.C. Poriya, assured the NSUI that the PG admission process on the GCAS portal would start soon and that the university is always ready to assist students in overcoming their difficulties.
This situation has created a lot of anxiety among students. Many are worried about missing out on their education opportunities due to these administrative issues. The NSUI’s involvement highlights the seriousness of the matter and the need for quick action from the university.
Students are hopeful that the university will resolve this issue swiftly so they can begin their postgraduate studies without further delays. They are looking for clear communication and support from the university administration to ensure a fair admission process.
As the deadline for choice filling approaches, it is crucial for the university to act promptly. Students need access to accurate information to make informed decisions about their future. The university must work towards restoring confidence among students and ensuring a smooth admission process for all.
