In Silvassa, a four-day training programme for teachers took place at Lions English School. This programme was designed for teachers under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The training divided teachers into two groups, focusing on assessment and evaluation processes.
The main aim was to help teachers understand modern evaluation techniques. They learned how to become better guides for their students. The sessions were led by experts, including Ms. Bhavisha Hirani from Podar International School in Nashik and Ms. Poonam Singh from Horizon International Academy in Nashik.
The programme opened with a welcome speech from the school’s head, Ms. Nirali Parekh. The experts explained the differences between traditional assessment methods and the new short evaluation techniques used in board exams. They introduced various types of assessments, Bloom’s Taxonomy, and the importance of creating rubrics for evaluations.
Teachers were enthusiastic and eager to learn. They were shown how to engage smart students through interactive activities. This approach is essential in keeping students interested and motivated.
During the four days, the school provided snacks and meals for the teachers. The management hopes that this training will enable teachers to understand evaluation processes better. At the end of the programme, Ms. Nirali Parekh thanked the experts and concluded the event with a group photo.
Lions English School, established in 1983, has grown significantly. It now serves around 5,000 students from Nursery to Grade XII.
