Thieves Create Havoc in Gandhinagar with Series of Break-ins

In Gandhinagar, thieves have caused a stir over the last fifteen days by breaking into homes and shops. Recently, in a bold move, they targeted four societies in Pethapur and broke into four shops on Alam Pur Road. Just last night, they broke into the Aadarsh Medical Stores located in Swastik Complex on Sector 17/22 Road, stealing over five thousand rupees in cash, as captured on CCTV.

Despite the heavy presence of CCTV cameras in the area, the thieves managed to enter the store by breaking the locks. The incident has raised concerns among residents, as the city is usually safe due to its extensive CCTV network.

Gandhinagar has seen a rise in vehicle thefts along with these break-ins, suggesting that the crime wave is expanding. The police in Sector 21 have started an investigation to uncover the culprits behind these burglaries. CCTV footage shows the thief entering the store brazenly, turning on a mobile light to search for cash.

This recent crime wave has not only affected urban areas but has also spread to rural regions. Reports indicate that thieves are now targeting homes in villages. For example, in Randheja, thieves broke into a house while the family was asleep upstairs. They cut through the grill of a window and stole jewelry worth 8.89 lakh rupees. The Pethapur police have registered a case and are investigating.

The rise in home burglaries during the winter months is not new, but it appears that a gang has become active in rural areas. Another incident happened in the village of Chhiloada, where a family went to the temple for a festival celebration. While they were away, thieves entered their house and stole cash and jewelry worth 3.76 lakh rupees. The police have been informed, and an investigation is underway.

The increase in these crimes has created fear among the residents of Gandhinagar and surrounding areas. Many families are now worried about their safety, especially during the holiday season when they may be away from home.

Local law enforcement is urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. They are also increasing patrols in both urban and rural areas to deter thieves.

Community meetings are being held to discuss safety measures and how to better protect homes and businesses. Residents are encouraged to install additional security systems and work together to keep their neighbourhoods safe.

As the police continue their efforts to catch the thieves, the community hopes for a quick resolution to this troubling situation. The police are asking anyone with information about these crimes to come forward to help them in their investigation.

In conclusion, with the rise in burglaries in Gandhinagar and nearby villages, it is crucial for residents to stay alert and proactive in protecting their homes. The community must unite to ensure safety during this festive season and beyond.
