Ahmedabad, Gujarat – A shocking theft occurred at the home of a scientist working at the Gujarat Biotechnology Center. The incident took place while the scientist was on vacation with her family in Dwarka. Upon returning on May 25, they discovered that ₹19.55 lakh worth of valuables had been stolen from their home.
The family was informed by their in-laws that on the night of May 24, due to the rainy weather, they had gone to check a window when they noticed the third-floor safe was left partially open. Upon investigation, they found that gold jewellery and ₹2 lakh in cash were missing.
In total, the theft included ₹17.55 lakh worth of gold jewellery and ₹2 lakh in cash, amounting to ₹19.55 lakh. The family immediately suspected the maid, Bhumi Solanki, who worked at their home. When questioned, the maid confessed to the crime.
Dharaben Patel, the scientist, promptly filed a complaint against Bhumi Solanki at the Ellisbridge police station. Following this, the police have initiated further investigations to recover the stolen items and gather more evidence regarding the incident.
The case has raised concerns about security and trust in domestic help, especially in households where significant amounts of money and valuables are kept.
