In Madhavas village, located in the Kalol taluka of Gujarat, a troubling incident has emerged ahead of the upcoming local elections. Rameshbhai Shanabhai, a resident of the village, has filed a written complaint with the Kalol police station. He claims to have received serious threats related to his support for a local candidate, Ashwin Kumar Narvatsinh Rathod, who is contesting in the Gram Panchayat elections.
According to Rameshbhai’s complaint, he was publicly humiliated based on his caste by supporters of another candidate. They questioned his worthiness and made it clear that they were unhappy with his choice to support Rathod. Rameshbhai reported that the supporters threatened him with violence, saying, “If I lose the election, I will burn down your entire Valmikivasa, just like we did during the riots in 2002 by setting fire to houses and shops of Muslims using petrol and kerosene.”
These alarming statements have drawn attention to the tense atmosphere in Madhavas village as the elections approach. Rameshbhai has urged the police to take legal action against those who threatened him and to ensure the safety of all villagers during this politically charged time.
