In a tragic incident, three individuals drowned in the Narmada Canal near the Thermal Power Station in Galteshwar, Kheda district. The canal runs alongside the power station, making it a popular spot for locals to swim. Upon hearing the news of the drowning, residents from nearby villages rushed to the scene. Even during the local elections in Timba, voters abandoned their polling stations to assist in the rescue. One of the candidates for the village head, Ripalbhai Patel, also left his election duties to help. He mentioned that local divers and the fire brigade were notified to assist with the search and rescue efforts. The situation remains tense as the community bands together in hopes of finding the missing individuals.

Galteshwar is known for its religious significance and is a tourist destination. The region is home to the 12th-century Galteshwar Mahadev Temple, located at the confluence of the Mahi and Galti rivers, approximately 16 kilometers from Dakor. This area has a rich cultural heritage, making it a focal point for both locals and visitors.

The Galteshwar taluka was established in September 2013 during the reorganization of Kheda district. It includes 34 villages that were previously part of the Thasra taluka. The community is known for its resilience, and the current incident has brought people together, showcasing their spirit and willingness to help each other in times of crisis.
