A tragic accident occurred in Disa, Gujarat, where a labourer lost his life after being hit by a rickshaw. The incident took place near the Khetwa bus stand. It is reported that the labourers were working in the fields to collect bajri (gravel) during the ongoing season. They were walking along the highway when the accident happened. At around 12:15 PM, a rickshaw driver, driving recklessly, struck Ramabhai, one of the labourers, as he walked from one field to another. Ramabhai fell unconscious by the roadside after the collision. The rickshaw driver abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene.
The injured Ramabhai was quickly attended to by his brother, Dalabhai Kamabhai Solanki. Dalabhai noted the rickshaw’s registration number, GJ-08-AX-2156. An ambulance was called, and Ramabhai was taken to Bhilardi Government Hospital. Unfortunately, the doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Following the incident, Ramabhai’s wife filed a complaint against the rickshaw driver. The police have since initiated legal action against him. This incident highlights the dangers that labourers face while working and commuting on busy roads.
Local authorities have been urged to improve road safety measures, especially in areas where working men and women frequently cross roads. Accidents like this raise concerns about the need for better awareness and regulation for drivers in residential and agricultural zones.
The community is mourning the loss of Ramabhai, who was a valued member of their workforce. This tragedy serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for responsible driving practices. Labourers often risk their lives while performing essential work, and incidents like this should prompt discussions about their safety on the job.
As the investigation continues, the local community hopes that justice will be served and that measures will be put in place to prevent similar accidents in the future.
