Tragic Accident Near Kalol: One Dead, Another Injured

Kalol, Gujarat – A tragic accident occurred near Derol village, resulting in the death of one person and leaving another injured. The incident took place when two motorcycles collided on the road. According to the details provided by Balvantsinh Vaktasinh Rathod at Kalol police station, the accident involved Arjunsinh Vaktasinh Rathod, aged 45, who was riding his motorcycle with a passenger, Arjunsinh Himmat Singh Parmar. They were returning home after completing work in Kalol.

As they approached the area near the Derol village crematorium, a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction collided with them. The motorcycle had the registration number GJ-17-CM-2797. The driver of this motorcycle was speeding and reckless, leading to the unfortunate crash. Arjunsinh Rathod sustained serious injuries to the back of his head and body and sadly did not survive. The passenger with him suffered injuries to his head and leg.

Following the accident, a report was filed at the Kalol police station, and the police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations.

In recent times, residents of Kalol have expressed concerns regarding increasing crime rates in both urban and rural areas, especially during the night. Reports of thefts have been frequent, causing fear among locals. Just a few days ago, a shop in Derol village was broken into, with thieves stealing various items including snacks and bottled water.

The situation has escalated to the point where residents have noticed suspicious individuals wandering the streets at night. In one incident, a group of four unknown individuals was seen throwing stones at houses in Bhakt Raj Faliya. This led to confrontations with locals, and one resident, Rajeshbhai, was injured in the altercation when one of the thieves attacked him with a knife. The police were called and managed to apprehend the suspects, who were subsequently handed over to the authorities.

As for the ongoing construction of an overbridge at railway crossing number 32 in Derol, locals have raised concerns about heavy vehicles using the roads, which could lead to traffic issues. Citizens have formally requested the Panchmahal district collector to take action, and plans for inspections are underway. Officials from the Roads and Buildings department are scheduled to visit the site to ensure safety and manage the traffic flow effectively.

Derol is a village located in the Kalol taluka of Panchmahal district, known for its agriculture and livestock farming. The main crops grown in the area include maize, tuvar, and various vegetables. The village has essential facilities such as primary and secondary schools, a gram panchayat, and a health centre.

On a lighter note, the village recently celebrated Dussehra with great enthusiasm. After the nighttime prayers, villagers participated in traditional garba dances, marking the unity and devotion of the community. Young men decorated the area with flowers, paying tribute to the success of India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission. This annual event not only showcases local traditions but also strengthens community bonds, reflecting the village’s rich cultural heritage.

As the investigation into the accident continues, the community remains hopeful for improved safety measures on local roads, as well as a reduction in criminal activity in the area. Residents are calling for collective action to ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone.
