A tragic incident occurred in the village of Balewiya, near Desar in Gujarat, where a local man drowned while fishing in the Mesari River. Dharmendra Singh Arvind Singh Gohil, aged 42, went fishing with a friend at a check dam on the river. He was a farmer and lived with his wife and children in the village.
On the afternoon of the 25th, Dharmendra and his friend set out for fishing. They were expected to return by evening. However, when Dharmendra did not come back home, his wife became worried and started searching for him. She looked for him until late at night but could not find him.
Dharmendra’s friend, Vikram Singh, also known as Subhash Bhai, informed her that they had gone into deep water to fish around 3 PM. Unfortunately, during their time in the water, Dharmendra drowned. Vikram tried hard to save him but was unable to do so. He then returned home without Dharmendra.
The next day, a search began for Dharmendra in the river and around the check dam. Local divers searched the area but were unsuccessful in finding him. The search continued from Balewiya to Kadachala along the Mesari River, but there was still no sign of him.
Finally, the Vadodara State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team was called in to assist in the search. After a thorough search, they found Dharmendra’s body in the river near the border of Vankaneda village. His body was sent to the Desar government hospital for a post-mortem examination. The police have registered an accidental death case and are conducting further investigations.
